Welcome to Solport and Stapleton Parish

We are a small rural parish in the north west of Cumbria.  Most of the Parish Councillors have a connection to farming which is the main industry.

Solport and Stapleton were separate Parish Councils then merged and held their first joint meeting on Monday 14 May 2007.  There are five Councillors from Solport and seven from Stapleton.  Meetings are held four times per year, usually February, May, September and November.

The Parish Council supports Shankhill School, Stapleton Public Hall and St Mary’s Church, Stapleton as well as The Great North Air Ambulance and the local First Responders.
